APSjobs FAQs
There are a number of common issues addressed on this page, if you are having trouble finding the information you are looking for please try to search the help items by using the search facility provided on the top left hand corner of this page.
Should I send you my Curriculum Vitae or apply to you for jobs?
No. APSjobs is managed by the Australian Public Service Commission on behalf of other Australian Government Agencies. Each job notice has details of to whom you should apply.
Why does my name appear in Find Outcomes; I have privacy concerns?
Under the Public Service Regulations 1999 and the Public Service Commissioner's Directions 1999 notifications of certain public service employment decisions are to be published in the Gazette. APSjobs incorporates the electronic APS employment Gazette.
Please also see the privacy statement on this website.
Can Outcomes be searched by Google or other search engines?
When APSjobs was launched in August 2007, we allowed search engines to index Outcomes and hence search by people’s names. Unfortunately, this raised significant privacy concerns and it was decided to change APSjobs to block search engines. Therefore, searching by people’s names is available from within the search facility on this website for two weeks after publication but not from other search engines.

Why didn’t I receive an Email Me Jobs email?
Everyone that registers for Email Me Jobs will receive an email every Thursday morning. If you did not receive an email then this commonly means that:

- You did not complete all of the steps when setting up your subscription. Please check your Email Me Jobs configuration and ensure that you complete all of the steps until you see the success page.
- Check that you are not using a spam filter or spam filtering service that blocks the emails, and / or check that the email address APSjobs@apsc.gov.au is in your safe senders list.
Why did I receive an email with no jobs?
To ensure that you realise that there were no jobs matching your criteria as opposed to our or your email systems being in error, we always send an email to you. Of course, if there are no matches to your criteria, try refining or using fewer search parameters.
I no longer want to receive emails, what do I do?
Simply use the unsubscribe from APSjobs email alerts feature, which is also on each of the sent emails.
I am registered with Ready Now or Branching out, why haven't I been contacted?
This is a new service provided by APSjobs to agencies to assist them in filling vacancies within their agency, as well as these registers various agencies also keep temporary employment registers or use recruitment companies specialised in placing people in temporary government jobs.
APSjobs does not record how many time you have been looked at by an agency or the take up rate of these registers.
